Marketing Director Christopher Baker

Living in Florida since 1955, I've always been in or on the ocean. I learned to swim at Crandon Park in Miami and started boating in while in elementary school, first with oars and then with small outboards.

Being connected to the sea, it was a natural for me to join the U.S. Navy when that time came. It was during my first duty assignment at the Naval Station in Norfolk, Virginia, that I learned to sail at the base sailing club in 1968. When I left the service, four years later, I introduced the joy of sailing to my younger brother and our friends back in Miami. You could say that was my first sailing marketing job.

I got back into sailing a few years ago at the Halifax Sailing Association in Daytona Beach and managed the SailCamp operations and instructed before HYS was formally organized.

Now, I maintain the web site and handle the marketing for HYS.
